The leading candidate to start at quarterback for Utah's football team this fall, Travis Wilson was cited for possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor while at a Tim McGraw concert at USANA Amphitheatre on Friday night.
A statement from the Department of Public Safety/Utah Highway Patrol said that Wilson was cited into West Valley Justice Court and released at the scene.
The 20-year-old junior last threw for 1,827 yards 16 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in a season cut short by the discovery of an intracranial artery condition after a concussion against Arizona State.
"We are still in the process of gathering information on the incident," said head coach Kyle Whittingham in a statement. "Once we have all the facts, we will handle the situation internally and determine any disciplinary action that should be taken."
Wilson was expected to be pushed for the starting job this fall by incoming Oklahoma transfer Kendal Thompson.
He recently obtained doctors' OK to return to full contact, about which Whittingham then said "It was a boost for our team. Travis is very popular on this team, and we're a better team with him on the team."
