It's not the Days of '47 Parade, but it's close — in size, in theme, in location.

It's Handcart Days' Grand Parade, and it took to the streets of Bountiful on Wednesday evening.

The 64th annual event featured some 85 entries, many with Mormon pioneer and Western themes, as it paraded down Bountiful's Main Street from 1500 South to 400 North, then west to 100 West.

The Davis County community's celebration stretched into Wednesday night with a city-sponsored fireworks show at Mueller Park Junior High at dusk. More events are scheduled Thursday at Bountiful City Park.

But the parade is the highlight. It is seen as a warm-up act of sorts for Utah's granddaddy of civic processions, the Days of '47 Parade, in neighboring Salt Lake City on Thursday morning.
