Montreal • Dom Dwyer took advantage of a defensive lapse to score his second goal of the game in the 89th minute, lifting Sporting Kansas City to a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Impact on Saturday night.
Montreal defender Heath Pearce and goalkeeper Troy Perkins got their signals crossed, and neither cleared a harmless ball away from the 18-yard box. The hesitation was enough for Dwyer to pounce on the loose ball and get his 14th goal of the season to give Sporting its third victory in four games.
Dwyer, who has six goals against Montreal this season, opened the scoring in the fourth minute.
Marco Di Vaio tied it for the Impact with a header in the 28th for his third goal of the season.
Rapids 3, Union 3 • In Chester, Pa., Deshorn Brown scored the tying goal in the 86th minute as Colorado rallied for a draw against Philadelphia.
Brown turned on his man and riffled in a left-footed shot to the lower right-hand corner for his sixth goal of the season.
Fire 1, Revolution 0 • In Foxborough, Mass., Quincy Amarikwa scored in the 3rd minute and Sean Johnson saved a penalty kick in the 86th to seal the Chicago's win over New England. Johnson dived to the right and got his right hand on Chris Tierney's low left-footed penalty kick. The block sent the ball into the air, off the post and rested on the goal line before Johnson secured it.
Toronto FC 4, Dynamo 2 • In Toronto, Jermain Defoe set up two goals and then scored two of his own for Toronto.
Toronto trailed 2-0 before Jonathan Osorio and Dominic Oduro scored in the first half. Defoe then had his goals in the 63rd and 89th minutes, helping his team stop a three-game winless streak. Defoe has 10 goals in 12 league games.
Red Bulls 4, Crew 1 • In Harrison, N.J., Thierry Henry had three assists and the go-ahead goal to lift New York.
Henry scored in the 45th minute when he nonchalantly floated the ball just inside the far post. Crew goalkeeper Steve Clark was out of position after blocking Bradley Wright-Phillips' header, and then another shot was blocked by a defender. —
