DVD •Spike Jonze's "Her" is a wonder, a movie that not only fills the genre of romantic comedy but redefines it.

In a tech-savvy near-future, lonely writer Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) installs a new operating system in his computer. The OS takes the name Samantha and a female voice (provided by Scarlett Johansson). Samantha is eager to learn about Theodore and the world around him, and Theodore finds her easier to talk to than human women, such as his ex-wife (Rooney Mara).

Soon a romance blooms, one that makes the viewer reconsider what it means to fall in love. Jonze's off-kilter world is both whimsical and authentic, where an embrace of technology takes on a double meaning that isn't as scary as you'd think. —
