Class 3A boys' tennis teams will be trying to keep up with the Kempens Friday and Saturday when the state tournament is contested at Liberty Park.

Juan Diego's Brendan Kempin will be back to defend his number one singles title while Ryan Kempin will return to defend his number two title. In addition, freshman Connor Kempin will be joining Ben Agrelius on the Soaring Eagles' number one doubles team.

Add to that returning number three singles champion Brenton Reyner and it's difficult to see any team coming close to Juan Diego, which beat second-place Desert Hills by four points a year ago when the event was contested in St. George.

Second doubles players Ryan Lowe and Rex Alley complete Juan Diego's tennis team.

The Class 2A tournament will be contested Saturday at Liberty Park. Rowland Hall and Waterford tied for the state title a year ago.

Expect Waterford's Quinn Pritchett and Rowland Hall's Bryce Barker to be in the mix this year for the number one singles championship.
