Outfielder Zach Borenstein enjoyed his biggest night in Triple-A on Thursday.

It made all the difference in Salt Lake's 8-7 Pacific Coast League win over Sacramento at Smith's Ballpark.

Borenstein, who was called up from Arkansas just two weeks ago, went 3-for-5 with three RBIs to lead the Bees past the River Cats.

Borenstein's two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning snapped a 6-6 tie and helped Salt Lake starting pitcher Hector Santiago get his first win in three starts since being sent to the Bees by the parent Los Angeles Angeles.

After Sacramento took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, Salt Lake countered with four runs in its half of the inning.

Shawn O'Malley and J.B. Shuck coaxed lead-off walks from River Cats' starter Josh Lindblom before Efren Navarro doubled them home with one out.

After Brennan Boesch's singled home Navarro, Borenstein's RBI base hit with two out made it 4-2.

Salt Lake owned a 5-3 lead in the top of the fourth, when Sacramento bunched five hits and scored three times off Santiago to regain the lead.

Salt Lake threatened in the bottom of the fifth when Tommy Field singled to center and Borenstein walked. They were stranded, however, when Luis Martinez and Vance Albitz popped out.

In the bottom of the sixth, however, the Bees didn't squander their chance to score.

O'Malley led off with a single and went to third in a base hit by Shuck. After Luis Jimenez lined out, Navarro walked to load the bases. O'Malley scored the tying run on a wild pitch by River Cat relief pitcher Jose Flores, with Jimenez and Navarro also moving up.

Sacramento walked Boesch intentionally to re-load the bases before Borenstein's two-out ground ball got under second baseman Colin Walsh's glove and into right field. Borenstein was credited with a two-run single in the play, giving Salt Lake an 8-6 lead.

In the eighth, it was the River Cats' turn to threaten but not score.

Facing Salt Lake reliever Tyler Newby, Ryan Ortiz and Nick Buss singled. But with two on and nobody out, Newby struck out Andy Parrino and Tyler Ladendorf. Then, Jimenez made a spectacular play on Nate Friedman's smash behind the bag to retire the side. —
