The Salt Lake City Council adjusted its impact fees Tuesday, resulting in lower fees than it had originally planned for housing as well as commercial and retail development by excusing those uses from the city's road fee.

But industrial development in the city's west-side industrial area will continue to be assessed a road fee of $2.26 per square foot.

Rather than raising its residential parks fee to $3,999, the council upped it to $2,875. But in 24 months, it will raise the residential parks-impact fee to $3,999.

Total impact fees per housing unit are now set at $3,035.

That rate will jump to $4,159 in 24 months, due to the parks-impact fee hike.

For commercial and retail real estate outside the west-side industrial zone, fees are 62 cents per square foot.

Commercial and industrial development within the west-side industrial area will be assessed fees of $2.88 cents per square foot. Those fees include the road fee of $2.26 per square foot.

Neither commercial nor industrial uses are subject to park fees.
