Provo police are investigating two unrelated skeletons found near Provo Canyon.
A man was hiking Squaw Peak Trail on Saturday afternoon when he went off the trail into rugged terrain and found the first skeleton, at the base of a 1,000-foot cliff, said Provo Police Lt. Mathew Siufanua. Detectives arrived and found the second skeleton about 50 feet away.
One set of bones belongs to 41-year-old Jakub Gorowski, a man from Poland who was reported missing in June 2012.
Investigators believe the second man is also someone who went missing, in 2006, based on the skeleton's clothing, but they are still working on confirming his identity.
Both of the men appeared to have fallen off the high cliff, Siufanua said.
Officers were still processing the scene Sunday afternoon, and expected to have the bodies removed by the evening. The discovery of the bodies at least gives their families closure, Siufanua said.
