In May, the Utah Lit book club conversation will focus on the memoir "Seven Summers" by University of Utah communication professor Julia Corbett.
Corbett teaches classes in environmental communication, health communication and mass communication research. "Seven Summers," her second book, was released by University of Utah Press in 2013. Corbett writes about fleeing Salt Lake City every summer — pets and power tools in tow — to build a cabin in Wyoming.
Like a contemporary homesteader, the writer wrestles with rural sexism and her own naiveté while she's carefully observing the rhythms of wildlife and the seasonal changes on her property.
