7th Annual Spring Gruv • The pond skimming contest will be the first event of the 10-day Spring Gruv celebration. Contestants in costume attempt to cross a 100-foot pond on skis or a snowboard. A concert by Steel Pulse! follows. Information, http://www.canyonsresort.com/events.html%3Ftextid%3D169

Snowflake Festival • This four-day celebration runs through Sunday at Alta. Planned events include a field day, one-piece ski outfit day, ski with a ranger, Soul Poles sale that benefits the Alta Community Enrichment program, raffle and chili cook-off. Wasatch Community Gardens Workshop Series • This workshop is on beginning organic gardening. Topics include: healthy soil, crop rotation, compost basics, natural pest control, crop diversity, companion planting, and when and what to plant. Advance registration suggested, wasatchgardens.org.
