Police on Monday night arrested an East Millcreek man who fired a shotgun at a houseguest.

The houseguest, who had outstayed his welcome, was waiting in the suspect’s mother’s car outside a home near 700 East and Empire Avenue (3430 South) about 3:40 p.m. so the mother could take him to a train station, said Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal.

Instead the 19-year-old suspect came outside with a shotgun and began firing at the car, Hoyal said. No one was hurt.

The mother and the houseguest left the premesis, and the 19-year-old barricaded himself inside. A SWAT team was outside the home until 7:15 p.m., when the teen tried to run from the home; officers caught him and took him into custody, Hoyal said.
