A pilot escaped injury Sunday after he crashed his plane in a Woods Cross field.

Woods Cross police officer Chris Hoffman said a city police officer just happened to see the plane go down at about 2:05 p.m. in a field near 500 S. Redwood Road.

The 42-year-old Utah pilot, who was alone in the plane, told investigators he had just taken off from Bountiful Sky Park airport, 1887 S. Redwood Road, when his plane lost power, Hoffman said.

He attempted to land the single-engine plane in the Woods Cross field, but it flipped upon landing.

No one was injured.

The Federal Aviation Administration was enroute Sunday afternoon to investigate the incident.
