Boulder, Colo. • No. 21 Colorado has lost leading scorer Spencer Dinwiddie for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The school said Monday the junior guard had an ACL injury and will require surgery once the swelling in the knee goes down. Dinwiddie was hurt in a noncontact play during the first half of a 71-54 loss at Washington on Sunday.

Dinwiddie was averaging 14.7 points and 3.1 rebounds for Colorado, which dropped six spots in the latest AP poll. He is also considered the Buffaloes' emotional leader.

The Buffaloes (14-3, 3-1 Pac-12) are off to one of their best starts in school history as they try to make the NCAA tournament for a third straight season.

No. 15 Kansas 77, No. 8 Iowa St. 70 • In Ames, Iowa, Naadir Tharpe scored a career-high 23 points, freshman Andrew Wiggins had 17 points and 19 rebounds and Kansas beat Iowa State for its third straight win to open Big 12 play.

The Jayhawks (12-4, 3-0) handed the Cyclones their second consecutive loss after a 14-0 start.

Kansas opened the second half with a 16-5 run and led the rest of the way.

Debuting at their lowest ranking since the last time they fell out of the AP Top 25 in February 2007, they let an 11-point lead with 3½ minutes slip away before avoiding a third loss in four games.

Malcolm Brogdon scored 17 points and Joe Harris added 15 for the Cavaliers (12-5, 3-1). —
