A man suspected of exchanging gunfire with Iron County deputies is back in jail after a hospital stay for a brain bleed.
Grant Louise Beidermann, 41, was reportedly in a gun battle with an officer at a Kanarraville campground Friday afternoon. A bullet grazed Beidermann's head, and he had originally been treated and released from a local hospital before he was booked into the Iron County Jail.
But on Saturday, he was flown to a northern Utah hospital on Saturday after experiencing bleeding in the brain.
As of Monday afternoon, though, Iron County Sheriff's Sgt. Charles Triplett confirmed Biedermann had been returned to a jail cell.
At 1:47 p.m. Friday, two Iron County deputies and a Utah Highway Patrol trooper were dispatched to the Red Ledge RV Park and Campground when Biedermann barricaded himself in a mobile home, according to an sheriff's office news release. Biedermann, who allegedly had a long-barreled gun, came out to meet deputies but then retreated back into the house. SWAT was later called to the scene.
Triplett said an officer and Biederman allegedly opened fired at 2:43 p.m. and one of the deputies, 27-year-old Kellen Hudson, and the suspect were injured.
Hudson was treated and released from Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City with a minor injury to his hip.
