Police were hunting for two suspects who held up a Salt Lake City business at gunpoint and fired at least one shot before speeding off late Friday morning.

Salt Lake City police Detective Dennis McGowan said the suspects — two young Latino men, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, both wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, beanie caps and bandanas — burst into the Midtown Wholesale store at 1465 S. State Street about 9:30 a.m.

The pair demanded cash, beer and clothing, took several items of merchandise and then jumped into a green compact car that sped away southbound.

McGowan said one of the two suspects fired a shot into the interior of the store but no one was hurt.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
