Contractors working at a Salt Lake City home construction site dug up some bones, prompting police to take the remains for further study.

Salt Lake City police Detective Veronica Montoya said the bones did not initially appear to be human, but they will be subjected to forensic examination to be sure.

The bones were unearthed about noon Tuesday at 851 E. 500 South during excavation work at the home site.
