Jumper attempts suicide at Salt Lake City library
The downtown Salt Lake City Main Library closed early Tuesday after someone attempted to jump to their death.
The 21-year-old was alone on the roof of the library at 210 E. 400 South when, about 4:15 p.m., a couple of people saw him jump, said Salt Lake City police spokeswoman Robin Heiden. He wound up in the inner courtyard but did not die.
The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, said Heiden, who did not immediately know where the man was from.
Police are investigating the jump as an attempted suicide.
There were no events going at the library at the time, but the library had to shut down early, which canceled an evening screening of "Moon."
