Howie Garber traveled the world working in emergency rooms at exotic locations so he could spend his time off taking pictures. In the end, it was his own backyard that drew Garber's attention and led to the creation of the book "Utah's Wasatch Range: Four Season Refuge."
The book — now including more than 160 pictures of wildlife, recreation and scenery of the Wasatch Mountains — was published in fall 2012.
A new second edition ($49.95), with 15 additional photos and a new essay, is being celebrated Nov. 18 at a book signing party at Simply Amish of Salt Lake featuring Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and at least a dozen authors of essays in the book.
The hardback second edition includes a new design, with an additional essay from Alexis Kelner on the famed Wasatch Mountain Club.
During the free event, Mayor Becker will talk about the Wasatch Summit Plan.
