A motorcyclist died after getting hit by a car Monday afternoon.

Steven J. Young, 56, of Salt Lake City, was driving his Harley-Davidson west on 3900 South when he and an eastbound silver Honda Accord reached the intersection with 900 East, in Millcreek, just before 4 p.m., said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.

The light had just turned red for both of them when they entered the intersection, Hoyal said. The Honda, making a left turn to go north, collided with the motorcyclist — who was not wearing a helmet, Hoyal added.

The motorcyclist was taken in an ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center. The 25-year-old driver of the Honda was not hurt.
