Women have given birth outside of hospitals for most of human history, but the case of a veteran midwife charged with negligent homicide in the death of a Moab infant is once again raising questions about the practice of natural childbirth. How should parents choose a midwife, what training, if any, should be required to be a midwife, and when is it time for a mother to go to a hospital?

On Wednesday at 12:15 p.m., Trib Talk’s Jennifer Napier-Pearce discusses the best practices of midwifery and rules in Utah with midwife Tara Workman Tulley, obstetrician Erin Clark and Tribune reporter Erin Alberty.

You can join the discussion by sending questions or comment to the hashtag #TribTalk on Twitter and Google+ as well as in the comment section in the story below. The live chat video will appear at the top of this page a few minutes before the chat begins.
