No one was hurt when a small plane had to make an emergency landing in a cornfield.
At 1:23 p.m. Thursday, Utah County dispatchers received a call about the plane landing in the field about two miles west of Spanish Fork/Springville Airport. The pilot, Floyd Richey of Orem, told Utah County Sheriff's deputies that he was unable to lower the landing gear on his Cessna 337 Skymaster and lost power in the front engine, according to a news release.
Richey flew underneath a power line and over a fence before landing. He and his two passengers, Jason Gomola of New York and Wayne Johnson of Texas, were OK.
"What damage the plane sustained, if any, is unknown," the release adds. The Federal Aviation Administration plans to arrive Friday morning to begin its investigation.
