A Boise, Okla., man died over the weekend after he lost control of his vehicle and it struck two cement pillars near Cedar City.

Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said William Barlow, 45, was northbound Saturday on Interstate 15 when for an unknown reason he drove off the interstate, up an embankment and struck two concrete pillars.

Bystanders removed Barlow from the wreckage moments before his Cadillac Deville burst into flames, Johnson said.

Barlow was initially taken to an area hospital for treatment. He was later flown to a Salt Lake City hospital where he died Saturday night from his injuries, Johnson said.

It wasn't known if Barlow was wearing a seat belt.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation, but troopers suspect Barlow may have suffered a medical problem or had become fatigued when he lost control, Johnson said.
