Champ Bailey suited up for practice only to sit out.
The Denver Broncos Pro Bowl cornerback stepped on the field Tuesday wearing his cleats and helmet, but didn't participate in the session. His availability for the season opener Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens remains uncertain due to a tender left foot.
Asked if his foot was feeling any better as he made his way out of the locker room, Bailey simply responded: "Yeah, yeah. Every day, every day."
Coach John Fox had no update on Bailey, only saying "our final injury report comes out [Wednesday]. We'll leave it at that."
Bailey has been out since spraining his foot on Aug. 17 in a preseason game at Seattle.
He said Monday that he was "very close" to being ready. Bailey also indicated his playing status remains "up in the air," since the troublesome foot still sometimes hampers him when he backpedals or runs side to side.
Should Bailey be unavailable, Chris Harris could slide over and start on the left side opposite fellow cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Texans • Linebacker Brian Cushing signed a six-year contract extension, a person familiar with negotiations confirmed. The deal is reportedly worth more than $55 million. Cushing was in the last year of the deal he signed as a rookie in 2009.
Saints • New Orleans brought back receiver Robert Meachem, shortly after his release by San Diego, then later placed linebacker Jonathan Vilma on injured reserve, designated to return this season. Vilma can't practice for the first six weeks of the schedule and can't be activated for the first eight weeks.
Dolphins • Former first-round draft pick Danny Watkins signed a $555,000, one-year contract with Miami and joined the team after being cut by Philadelphia.
Steelers • Coach Mike Tomlin made Isaac Redman the starter at running back for Sunday's season opener against Tennessee. The Steelers cut Jonathan Dwyer — their leading rusher last season — and second-round pick Le'Veon Bell is recovering from a sprained right foot.
Colts • Indianapolis waived safety John Boyett a day after he was arrested on public intoxication and other charges. He was the Colts' sixth-round draft pick out of Oregon in April, but was on the non-football injury list with injuries to both knees.
Browns • Kicker Billy Cundiff reached agreement with Cleveland, which has been looking for a kicker since terminating veteran Shayne Graham's contract and releasing rookie Brandon Bogotay last weekend.
Bills • Kicker Dan Carpenter finally landed a job after signing with Buffalo. The signing came a day after rookie kicker Dustin Hopkins was hurt in practice. Carpenter was released by the Dolphins last month and failed in tryout bids with Arizona and the Jets over the past two weeks. —
