A 19-year-old man was in critical condition Tuesday, but expected to survive, the day after he was repeatedly shot near downtown Ogden's Summit Hotel.
Ogden police said a 911 call reporting gunfire came in about 9:30 p.m. Monday. While officers were responding to the area of 200 24th Street, dispatchers notified them that a gunshot victim had been brought into the emergency room of McKay-Dee Hospital.
Officers responded to the hospital, where they learned the male victim — whose identity was not released — had suffered three gunshot wounds while in the area of 24th Street and Lincoln Avenue.
Further details were not immediately available because the investigation was just getting underway, Ogden police Lt. Danielle Croyle said Tuesday.
No suspects had been taken into custody, she said, but added that "we don't believe this to have been random. We believe this victim was targeted."
Meanwhile, police continued to investigate Saturday's fatal shooting of 26-year-old Robert Santos Soto Jr.
After witnesses reported hearing an argument and gunshots in the 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue, officers were dispatched at 1:18 a.m. and found Soto dead on the sidewalk from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a news release.
Soto lived in the block where he died, said Croyle.
Jeremy David Clement, 18, who also lives on the block, is considered a person of interest. Police do not suspect Clement of the shooting, but they want to speak with him, Croyle has said.
