Three motor homes were destroyed in a fire Monday that started with engine maintenance in a Clearfield subdivision.

The owner of one of the RVs was spraying cleaning fluid into the engine area of his motor home while someone else was turning the ignition about 5:30 p.m. Monday near 900 S. 1000 East in Clearfield, said Clearfield fire Capt. Allen Hadley. The cleaner caught fire, and the blaze spread through the RV and to two others parked nearby in the subdivision parking area, Hadley said. The fire also destroyed a jet ski and a flatbed trailer, and it damaged the siding of a nearby home, Hadley said.

The fire caused about $250,000 in damage, Hadley said.
