Two women were cited Tuesday for trying to carry loaded guns through security checkpoints at Salt Lake City International Airport.

The first woman arrived at the airport about 5 a.m., the Transportation Safety Administration reported. She was carrying a Ruger LC9 pistol loaded with six rounds of 9mm ammunition, said TSA spokeswoman Lorie Dankers. She was accompanying a child to the gate but was not traveling, Dankers said.

The second woman arrived about 8:30 a.m. for a flight to Portland with a loaded KelTec 380, Dankers said.

They are the 23rd and 24th people firearms found this year at Salt Lake International.
