A person with knowledge of the deal says the Brooklyn Nets have agreed to a contract with forward Andrei Kirilenko.
The person, speaking Thursday on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced, says Kirilenko has accepted the taxpayer's mid-level exception worth about $3.2 million. The contract includes a player option for the second year.
The Russian forward opted out of his $10.2 million deal for next season with the Minnesota Timberwolves and found a home with the Nets — owned by fellow Russian and former CSKA Moscow owner Mikhail Prokhorov.
The versatile forward is another strong addition for a Nets team that has loaded up this offseason, highlighted by the pending acquisitions of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett from Boston.
"At this point of his career, he's fortunate to have made a lot of money," Kirilenko's agent, Marc Fleischer, told NBA.com. "And while money is important, I think they convinced him that signing with a team that had a chance to win — and that had Russian ownership — was too good to pass up."
Lakers amnesty World Peace
It's Peace out for the Los Angeles Lakers.
They waived Metta World Peace on Thursday under the NBA's amnesty provision.
He averaged 12.4 points and 5.0 rebounds in 75 games last season, having joined the Lakers in 2009.
A 14-year veteran, World Peace has also played for Houston, Sacramento, Indiana and Chicago during his career.
Meanwhile, the team announced it signed free agent guard Nick Young, who averaged 10.6 points in 23.9 minutes a game last year for Philadelphia.
He signed a one-year deal at the veteran's minimum with the Lakers, according to USA Today.

Pistons • President of basketball operations Joe Dumars confirmed that guard Chauncey Billups and the team agreed to terms on a contract. Billups is getting a two-year deal (the first season is guaranteed) for $2.5 million each year.
Bucks • Restricted free agent Jeff Teague signed a four-year, $32 million offer sheet with Milwaukee, where he would be reunited with former Atlanta coach Larry Drew. The Hawks have three days to match the offer.
