An 11-year-old Denver girl died in a crash near Green River, Utah.

The girl, Daisy Figueroa, died at the scene. At 12:42 p.m., a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder with eight people aboard was traveling east on Interstate 70, about 2 miles west of Green River.

The driver went off the left side of the road, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The driver steered back onto the highway but over corrected and lost control of the Pathfinder.

The Pathfinder rolled off the interstate, ejecting the teenager and Alicia Figueroa, 64. The girl died and the woman was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., with critical injuries, said UHP Lt. Steve Winward.

Neither of them was wearing a seat belt, but everyone else was and suffered little to no injuries, according to UHP.

UHP is still investigating why the Pathfinder drifted.
