Sandy • Jozy Altidore's hot streak continues.

The U.S. striker scored in the 73rd minute to give the Americans a 1-0 victory over Honduras on Tuesday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The goal off a Fabian Johnson pass extended Altidore's scoring streak to four straight matches and moved his country a long way toward qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.

Altidore foreshadowed the goal earlier in the half by beating Honduras goalkeeper Noel Valladares only to see the score whistled off because Altidore was offside.

U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann had called Tuesday's match "huge," "a must-win" and a "six-pointer."

"You want to go with that high note," Klinsmann said. "The next World Cup qualifier will be in September so you set the tone with [this] match."
