A new award at the University of Utah will honor surviving family members of veterans who die or are missing in war.

The "Beyond the Call of Duty" award will be bestowed each year during the annual Veterans Day commemoration. The 15th annual event is planned this year for Nov. 11.

The university is seeking nominations of parents, spouses, or surviving children who have continued to support the U.S. military after the loss of a family member, a news release said.

Nominees must be Utah residents and willing to speak about experiences supporting the military.

The deadline to submit nominations is July 15.
