NFL • NFL owners will vote on the sites of the 50th and 51st Super Bowls on Tuesday at their spring meetings in Boston. The San Francisco area, where a new stadium is being built in Santa Clara, and south Florida are competing for the 50th edition, to be held in February 2016. The loser in that bidding will go against Houston to host the 51st game the following year.
A three-quarters majority of the 32 owners is required on the first ballot. If neither city gets that, then a simple majority wins on the next ballot. The 49ers' new home is scheduled to open for the 2014 season.
• Former NFL receiver Chad Johnson was arrested in Florida on charges that he violated probation stemming from an altercation with his now ex-wife, TV reality star Evelyn Lozada. An arrest warrant was issued earlier this month in Broward County when Johnson failed to meet his probation officer.
Woods won'treach out to Garcia
golf • "No," Tiger Woods said on Monday when asked if he ever thought of calling Sergio Garcia to bury the hatchet after their spat at The Players Championship. The one-word answer came during a press conference at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., to promote the upcoming AT&T National, which benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation. Woods will defend his title the June 27-30.
Garcia accused Woods of distracting him during The Players Championship by pulling a club out his bag during the Spaniard's backswing.
• Fourteen-year-old Guan Tianlang will play in the Memorial Tournament next week. The Chinese amateur has accepted an exemption for the event at Muirfield Village.
Memorial founder and host Jack Nicklaus met with Guan's parents at the Masters and has said he hoped the phenom might play at his tournament, which starts May 30. Last month, Guan became the youngest player to make the cut in a major championship when he finished 58th at the Masters.
