Murray police are investigating a reported sexual assault at Intermountain Medical Center.

On Sunday, a patient called the police to report that she had been sexually assaulted by an employee at the hospital, at 5121 S. Cottonwood St., said Detective Kenny Bass.

Since the investigation is ongoing, Bass could not comment any further on the case or when the investigation will conclude.

Due to laws governing patient privacy, IMC spokesman Jess Gomez could not comment on the case, but said in a statement that "whenever serious allegations are made, we take them very seriously and immediately involve local law enforcement officials and conduct a thorough investigation."

Patients' welfare and safety is always the hospital's utmost concern, he added.
