Salt Lake Community College will celebrate books — and consume them, too — during the Edible Books Festival and Contest on Wednesday, April 17.

Students, faculty, staff and administrators are invited to make an edible creation that is related to libraries, books or a piece of literature.

A panel of judges will award prizes for most edible, most literary, most artistic and most humorous.

The public is invited to attend the free event and will be able to vote for the "people's choice" award.

The event is being held as part of National Library Week and is sponsored by the SLCC's library department and the school's Culinary Arts Institute.

When • Wednesday, April 17, noon and 2 p.m.; judging begins at 1 p.m.

Where • Markosian Library on the SLCC Taylorsville Campus, 4800 S. Redwood Rd, Salt Lake City

Cost • No entry fee, but there is a limit of one entry per person.

Details • Entries will be accepted between 7:30 a.m. and noon on the library's main floor lobby.
