A West Jordan man has been charged after police say he stalked a woman for 12 years.
The 35-year-old man was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with five counts of stalking, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of a year in jail for each count.
A woman told police that she has received sexually graphic emails from the man for 12 years. She sent the man an email asking if he would leave her alone if she agreed to meet him, and he did, but with the stipulation that she perform oral sex on him, according to the charges.
They arranged to meet at a church parking lot next to the man's mother's home.
On April 4, she parked by the church while a police officer waited nearby. As the man approached the woman's vehicle and tried opening the door, the officer took him into custody.
After his arrest, the man admitted to the police that he had been stalking both her and another woman.
The second woman started receiving sexually graphic emails at work from the man last July, the charges state. She believed he was a former high school acquaintance. She told him he had the wrong woman and to remove her from his contact list, but she kept receiving emails containing the same graphic messages, the charges add.
