Utah man critical after his own truck runs over him
A Salt Lake City man who was run over Wednesday by his service truck was critically injured, police said.
The 54-year-old man was in the vast parking lot of a train yard at 2765 S. Orlando Place (850 West) in South Salt Lake, under the hood of his service truck trying to fix a mechanical problem, said police spokesman Gary Keller. The truck is a heavy-duty variety, and is usually loaded with a crane and tools to repair semi-trucks.
About 12:50 p.m., "the truck slipped into gear while the engine was running, moved forward, knocking him to the ground and running over his midsection," Keller said. The truck then continued on until it ran into a guardrail.
People nearby called 911 and the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. His condition has since been downgraded to "possibly fatal," Keller said.
The man's name was not immediately released.
