Jackie Sweet went 3-for-4 and the University of Utah softball team beat host Utah Valley 4-2 in 10 innings Monday in Orem.

Pitcher Mariah Ramirez drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the 10th inning, and the Utes added an insurance run on Shelby Pacheco's sacrifice fly.

With the victory in its first extra-inning game of the season, Utah (9-6-1) has gone 7-0-1 in its last eight outings. The Utes had 10 hits Tuesday.

Ramirez (3-3) earned the victory in a relief role, holding UVU hitless over 12/3 innings. Dynasty Lauvai went 2-for-3 for the Wolverines (5-6).

Men's golf • In Fresno, Calif., BYU's Zac Blair shot a 3-under-par 69 Tuesday and finished tied for fifth place at 209 in the Lexus Classic at the Belmont Country Club, leading the Cougars to a third-place team finish.

Utah's Gentry Hicks closed with a 1-under-par 71 and finished tied for 35th at 219; the Utes finished 17th (last place) in the team standings.
