While the holiday week will start out sunny and hazy, by Tuesday night snow is expected to return to northern Utah.
The National Weather Service said Tuesday night there's a 50 percent chance of rain and snow. By Wednesday, the chance of snow jumps to 70 percent, with about an inch of fresh snow expected in Salt Lake City. The chance of snow is then expected to linger into the weekend.
Those looking to celebrate the President's Day holiday can expect a mostly sunny days with a high of about 39 Monday, but air quality continues to be unhealthful. Residents in Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, Box Elder and Cache counties have a mandatory no-burn day Sunday.
Avalanche conditions had improved Sunday with low risks in place for the Ogden, Salt Lake and Provo areas. Moderate risks were in place for the Logan, Uinta, Skyline and Moab areas.
