A single propeller airplane went down near the Skypark Airport in Woods Cross just a few minutes after takeoff Friday afternoon. The pilot, who was the single occupant of the plane, walked away with no injuries.

Detective Adam Osoro of the Woods Cross Police Department said the plane was apparently experiencing engine trouble shortly after take off. The pilot turned around to try to return to the airport but was unable to reach the runway before losing power. Instead, the plane landed upright in a nearby field in some deep snow, Osoro said.

Osoro said a witness who saw the plane go down called 911 at about 1:45 p.m. The Federal Aviation Administration will conduct its own investigation to determine what caused the crash landing.
