Centerville police said it was lucky no pedestrians or other vehicles were hit Sunday when a reversing pickup truck crashed into a house.

Police and medical personnel responded to a report of a truck hitting a house at 517 W. 1850 North at about 5:45 p.m.

Police said the 77-year-old driver was backing his Ford F150 pickup out of his driveway and pushed too hard on the accelerator, causing the truck to reverse across 1850 North, jump the curb, cross a yard and jump up a concrete porch nearly 2 feet high before finally stopping after hitting a brick pillar and brick wall.

The home was occupied at the time, but no one was injured, police said.

Medics from South Davis Metro Fire Department examined the driver, and no serious medical issues were found. Officers did not find any indications of impairment by alcohol or otherwise.

The driver was cited and was being referred to the Driver License Division for a re-evaluation of his driving privilege.
