So which Utah jam maker "spread the love" first?

A Utah court maybe the one to decide after Amour Spreads of Salt Lake City, initiated proceedings against Butcher's Bunches Handcrafted Preserves of Logan, for trademark infringement.

Butcher's Bunches holds the Utah Registered Trademark for the term "Spread the Love." Owner Liz Butcher has used the term on her wedding products and clothing line (see attached photo) for at least two years, she said in a news release. She has operated the business since 2009.

Amour Spreads, which launched in the fall of 2011, uses the the marketing term "Spread Love." Amour's attorney, David J. Pacheco recently sent a letter to Butcher, saying she is confusing the public by using a nearly identical term.

A sticky situation indeed.
