For the second year running, the Utah Museum of Arts is providing a venue for "Low Lives," a worldwide networked festival of performance and digital art.
Performance art (not to be confused with "performing arts") is a difficult concept for many people, and "Low Lives 4" (its fourth year) takes it a step further in complication, networking art pieces that are presented live and transmitted digitally over the Web from 25 venues around the globe.
On Friday and Saturday, UMFA will contribute two live performances by Boulder, Colo.,-based artist Michelle Ellsworth and also screen more than 50 performances from other venues in real time.
Salt Lake artist and Low Lives founder and curator Jorge Rojas will conduct (DJ might be a better term) the event from UMFA on Friday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.
