Murray homicide suspect released from hospital, booked into jail
A Murray man accused of gunning down his girlfriend during a domestic violence incident this month has been released from the hospital and booked into jail.
Salt Lake County jail records show that Ryan Randy Robinson, 31, of Murray, was booked into the jail Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of homicide, aggravated assault, illegally possessing a weapon, all felonies, and two related misdemeanor counts.
As of Wednesday morning, he had not been charged with a crime.
Robinson is accused of killing Shantelle Reid, 25, on April 9 at the Murray home they shared at 6341 S. 725 East. Murray police said Reid was shot to death shortly after neighbors reported seeing Robinson beating her in a yard close to his parents' home. When police responded, police said they both denied fighting.
At about 4:45 p.m., an officer came back and saw Robinson walking in the street, drinking a beer. Neighbors said the officer told him to show his hands, but Robinson responded with profanities. The officer drew his gun, and Robinson fled through the parking lot of a nearby LDS ward house with the officer in pursuit.
The officer chased Robinson to Mount Vernon Drive, the next street to the west, where the officer shot and wounded Robinson.
Witnesses said they noticed a can of beer and a handgun on the ground where Robinson was shot.
Afterward, officers entered Robinson's home and found Reid shot to death inside.
