Members of the Urgyen Samten Ling Gonpa Tibetan Buddhist Temple will hold a special New Year's Eve ceremony and celebration aimed at purifying negativity and obstacles of the past year and invoking compassion to begin 2013 anew.

The ceremony, open to the public as well as those of various Buddhist traditions, will be attended by visiting teacher Tulku Choejor Rinpoche.

Services begin at 9 p.m. Monday and run until about 2 a.m. New Year's Day at the temple, 740 S. 300 West, Salt Lake City.
