CD • "Music From Another Dimension" is the first album of all-original material by Aerosmith in 11 years, and it's better than it has any right to be.

The Bad Boys of Boston are obviously attempting to cash in on frontman Steven Tyler's recent notoriety as a judge on "American Idol," much as fellow ex-judge J. Lo capitalized during her stint. While Tyler often sounds like an exaggerated parody of himself, it is the guitar interplay between Joe Perry and Brad Whitford that makes the songs tick and sound like better-than-average renditions of The Rolling Stones' out-takes.

This is not a ringing endorsement, but the new album is luckily more like "Toys in the Attic" and less like that lame song from "Armageddon." —
