Books & Bites — 'Seeking Sicily'

Harmons and Weller Book Works kick off "Books and Bites," a new food and travel book series, featuring a chef and local author. For the Sept. 22 event, chef Evan Francois will prepare merende (Italian small bites) to complement the words of Seeking Sicily by John Keahey, a former Salt Lake Tribune reporter and editor. Keahey has authored three books on Italy and is working on a fourth on Tuscany. Sicilian wine pairing included, non-alcoholic beverages available.

Williams Sonoma artisans market

Meet Utah artisans at this market featuring products from Creminelli Salami, Amour Spreads, Slide Ridge Honey, Chocolot, Beehive Cheese and Yolka Chocolates. Cookbook author Marguerite Henderson will sign copies of her cookbook, Small Sweet Treats. The store opens early for this event.

A pairing of food and art

The relationship between food and culture will be explores in the art exhibit, "Fare." Artists were asked to think about how food is characteristic of their culture, said Margaret Hunt, director of Utah Arts & Museums. The exhibit features works by Martin Blundell, Sam Wilson, Trent Call, Dorothee Martens, Anthony Siciliano, Shami Kanekar, Fahime Amiri, Kim Martinez and Joe Ostraff.
