$9.95 • Every so often I will eat a dish that perfectly sums up a restaurant, such as the Our Local Hero from Avenues Bistro on Third. The sandwich layers fresh mozzarella, Italian speck, a type of prosciutto, and Italian sausage from two of Utah’s finest purveyors of artisan meats (Frody Volgger and Cristiano Creminelli), then heaps on fresh vegetables such as romaine, red onion, roasted bell pepper and a deeply flavored balsamic reduction, the whole affair delivered on densely textured focaccia bread. Your only regret will be wishing more sandwiches were created with as much care and love.
