Documentarian Lucy Walker will talk about her work in an onstage interview with KUER’s Doug Fabrizio, on Thursday, June 14, at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City.
Walker’s work has explored Amish culture ("Devil’s Playground"), blind mountain climbers ("Blindsight") and life in the garbage dumps of Rio de Janeiro ("Waste Land"). Her latest, the short film "The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom," looked at the damage and aftermath of the Japanese tsunami. It was nominated for an Oscar.
After Walker’s onstage interview, "The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom" will be screened. A Q-and-A will follow.
The event, part of the "Through the Lens" series presented by "Radio West" and the Utah Film Center, starts at 7 p.m. — but moviegoers are asked to be seated by 6:45 p.m. (because the interview will be broadcast live on KUER, FM 90.1.)
