Five food carts were shut down earlier this week by the The Salt Lake Valley Health Department for creating "imminent health hazards."

According to these notices on the agency's website, the violations ranged from lack of running water and improper hand washing procedures to holding food at incorrect temperatures and failing to use a proper commercial kitchen.

The carts in violation include 3 Brothers, Tacos Don Martin, Tacos Don Rafa, Chuvi Duvi and El Jaripeo. Here are the specifics on each cart:

3 Brothers • 200 E. 450 South; closed Wednesday, Feb. 21

-The person-in-charge is unable to verify where the rice had been prepared.

-An employee did not wash hands before putting on gloves.

-The chicken on the warmer table is holding at 110 degrees (too cold)

-The person-in-charge is unable to demonstrate knowledge of the relationship between the prevention of foodborne illness and management of hand washing.

-Not all employees have a current food handler card.

-There is no probe thermometer to measure the internal temperature of foods.

-Employees are wearing hand/wrist jewelry.

-The certified manager is not registered with the Salt Lake Valley Health Department.

Tacos Don Martin • 1100 E. 2100 South; closed Feb. 21

-The hand sink is blocked.

-The hand sink does not work.

-There are no hand drying provisions at the hand sink.

-There is no probe thermometer available to take internal food temperatures.

-There is no sanitizer test kit available.

-There is not a certified/registered food safety manager.

-Not all employees have a current food handler card.

-The commissary agreement is not available for verification by the inspector.

-The restroom agreement is not available for verification by the inspector.

-The waste water agreement is not available for verification by the inspector.

- Cardboard is being used as a shelf liner.

- In use utensils are being stored in standing water.

- Unwrapped single service items for customer self-service are not presented to prevent contamination of the lip surfaces by customers.

Tacos Don Rafa Dos Cart • 800 S. 25 West; closed Wednesday, Feb. 22

-There is no hot water at the hand sink.

-Rice and beef are at 45 degrees (to hot) in the cooler.

-The restroom agreement is not available for viewing by the inspector.

-The shelves above the grill are dirty.

-The Salt Lake Valley Health Department permit is not posted in the public's view.

-The clean water tank is leaking.

Chuvi Duvi Food Cart • 150 S Main St.; closed Wednesday, Feb. 22

-The cart operator is not using the commissary.

-The cart does not have adequate hot water.

-Water to the hand sink is shut of and on at the main valve rather that using the faucet. The water is not readily available for use.

-The fresh water tank is leaking water onto the ground.

-Fresh and gray water pipes are cracked and leaking water onto the ground.

-Cart employees are allowing customers to use the hand wash sink.

-Cart employee reused gloves.

-Cart employee did not wash hands before putting on gloves.

-Cart employees do not have adequate knowledge of hand washing procedures or cart operations.

El Jaripeo • 2427 S. Redwood Rd.; closed Wednesday, Feb. 22

• The hand washing sink is not operational.

• Food is being prepared and served without hand washing.

• Raw meat is being held at 47°F in a cooler with no ice.

• Cooked beans and meat are being held at 109-125°F.

• Raw meat is stored with cooked meat in a cooler.
