How many people does it take to put together a weekly half-hour program about all the great stuff that Utah has to offer? Four.

Seriously, that's the size of the staff behind "Wasatch 360," a locally produced show that premieres Saturday, Dec. 3, at 6:30 a.m. on KSTU-Channel 13.

It's "kind of a newsmagazine format, kind of a lifestyle show, kind of an all-everything show about Utah," said Larry Feldman, who partnered with KSTU weatherman John Goulet to create, produce and host the program.

They're planning features on skiing in the winter and golf in the summer. On where to vacation. On cool homes for sale. On hotels and restaurants.

They're serious about what they're doing, but vow the show will be fun. In Week 2, you'll see Goulet attempt the hellfire challenge at Kobe Sushi in Holladay.

"He tried to go through it and failed miserably," Feldman said. "He thinks it's going to be an awful segment, and it's actually going to be one of the funniest segments you'll ever see."

Feldman, who's been in public relations for almost three decades, and Goulet, a longtime ski instructor at Aspen and Deer Valley, met in mid-2010 and started talking about putting the show together.

They sell advertising, they do promotions, they host the show. Along with Jessica Kunzer (who handles public relations for Ski Utah, a show partner), they're the on-air personalities. The fourth member of the team, Mark Lukes, shoots video and edits the show.

"That's it. We're running our tails off," Feldman said.

It's fairly amazing what you can do with professional-grade HD cameras, mikes and computer software.

"We're giving it a shot," Goulet said. "I'd never want to quit my day job forecasting weather. That's my first love. But this is a lot of fun."

The early morning time slot for "Wasatch 360" is no coincidence. Each half-hour will end with Goulet inviting viewers to stick around and watch him on KSTU's 7 a.m. newcast.

Feldman and Goulet are buying the time from KSTU and selling their own advertising.

While advertisers will be featured in the show, "Wasatch 360" won't just feature those who are paying.

"It's not just sponsors," Goulet said. "We're trying to get all kinds of interesting stories."

Feldman added: "Just because you're not a sponsor doesn't mean we're not going to go out and cover something. It's all about what's interesting on the Wasatch Front."

It's what a couple of really determined guys can do with time and a little technology.
