It's conventional wisdom that Utahns love a good hamburger. In fact, earlier this year Salt Lake City was named one of the top burger cities in the country by Travel & Leisure. Utah's capital city was second only to Houston for its hamburger love.

Determining who makes the state's best burger, however, is the source of great debate.

When The Tribune asked readers to tell us their top-rated burger, our email box was filled with nearly 100 passionate responses. And a few favorites did emerge.

Here are the results of that unscientific readers poll:

1. Crown Burger • This Utah-owned restaurant is definitely burger royalty, garnering the most email buzz. The signature "Crown Burger" piled high with pastrami was consider the king, but the mushroom swiss burger, bacon burger and junior burger are worthy heirs to the throne. Various locations

2. Five Guys Burgers & Fries • The favorite among national chains. The burgers are "juicy without being greasy and made to order with really fresh fixings." Various locations

3. In 'N' Out • Big burgers with fresh toppings. "It is as good as it was 40 years ago when I first ate one in California." Various locations

4. Salt City Burgers & Grub • One must try the bacon burger, as bacon is ground directly into the beef patty. Locations in Sandy and Bountiful

4. Greek City Grill • Several readers believe the feta burger was sent straight from the gods. Salt Lake City

5. The Spin Café • Customers love the cheesy Spin Burger with caramelized onions. Heber City

6. Ray's Tavern • This 1/2-pound burger is "charred to perfection" and worth the drive. Green River

7. Smashburger • Two favorites here. The Beehive burger with honey barbecue sauce, apple wood-smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and haystack onions; and The Team Awesome Burger with grilled onions, a fried egg, bacon, spinach leaves, Swiss cheese and chipotle mayonnaise. Various locations

8. The Copper Onion • Hand-formed patties, homemade buns and caramelized onions. Salt Lake City

9. Lucky 13 • Good quality meat that's "moist without being greasy." Salt Lake City

10. Stein Eriksen Lodge • Kudos for the Stein Burger that comes topped with aged white cheddar and a thin, crispy onion rings. Park City
